The Lawyer-turned-Social-Worker Kind of Guy
6:21pm February 16th, 2009Since 2004 when I joined Africa Mission Alliance, I have experienced God through the work He has done for Africa Mission Alliance. The 1994 Rwandan genocide left most of Rwandans shaken and its effects have been the subject work of Africa mission alliance
When I first came to Africa mission alliance, the organization had already started a child sponsorship program to help children go to school, give them medication, buy scholastic material, shoes and school uniforms. This ministry was one of the reasons why I joined AMA. Personally, having grown up as a poor child and having suffered a lot on my way to university, I was so much excited to work with these children because I understood their story.
In 2005, a year after I joined Africa mission Alliance, and a little before completing my law degree at the National University of Rwanda in 2005, I witnessed one of the most touching events at AMA. A child called Mukansoro was accepted in the AMA
sponsorship program. Her situation was worse than anything I had ever seen. This girl had skin rushes allover her body and was in a severely critical condition. I personally took her to the hospital. The doctor gave us medicine costing about five dollars. And in just a few weeks she was healed of all her skin diseases. I couldn’t believe that this girl had been this sick just because she couldn’t afford five dollars.
Another project that has greatly touched me is AMA’s t technical school where women are taught to be self-sustainable. I have seen a number of women who were jobless and begging on streets learn new skills and are now able to feed their families. Hundreds of women especially widows are having their lives turned around and are living a better life as a result.
